Title: Current state and future prospect of iPS cells research
Date&Time: 4 Oct.(Thu.) 2018, 13:15-14:45

Abstract:
As eleven years have passed since the establishment of human iPS cells was reported, we can see the sign of medical application of the cells. Regarding the regenerative medicine, cell transplantation using autologous iPS cell-derived cells was practiced to a retinal disease patient, followed by the practice of allogeneic transplantation using HLA iPS cell-derived cells. We are close to applying iPS cells to cardiomyopathy, Parkinson’s disease, Aplastic anemia and spinal cord injury. Further, research on the elucidation of pathology and drug discovery by specific disease type iPS cells is conducted in various fields. Our group’s research on intractable bone disease has entered the doctor-initiated clinical trial stage. This lecture will present the overview of the history, current state and future prospect of iPS cells research.
