Title:  I have made up my mind to save the world by euglena

Abstract:

As one of groups of algae like seaweed and kelp, euglena receives attention as a key to address food problems, energy problems and global warming as it is rich in nutrition and absorbs CO2. Though many thought it would be impossible, Euglena, Co., Ltd. succeeded in open-air mass culture of edible euglena for the first time in the world. We have been developing the industrial application of euglena since then. The company is also doing research and development of bio-jet fuels as the oil and fat contained in euglena are suitable for biofuel.

On December 3 2014, Euglena, Co., Ltd. was listed with first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange as the first venture company from the University of Tokyo. In this seminar, I will talk about the tracks from my decision for business start-up to the company being listed with the stock exchange and future visions.
