Abstract:

The 13th Five-year Plan Outline of the People’s Republic of China for National Economic and Social Development (2016–2020) had emphasized on “strengthen ecological protection and restoration”. In the 14th Five-Year Plan starting in 2021, it is expected to increase investments for further environmental improvements and to accelerate the efforts to solve environmental problems. In this lecture, I will introduce the situation of water treatment in China and then talk about my own learnings/experiences related to 1) the process of launching a new product, 2) working overseas, 3) starting up an environmental engineering company in China and doing business locally, and 4) current work experience in Japanese company after returning back to Japan. I hope that the lecture will help young researchers in designing their career and work plan.
