Abstract:

新型コロナウイルスが世界的に大流行し、甚大な被害をもたらす自然災害も相次ぐ中、科学的根拠を踏まえた報道の重要性はかつてないほど高まっている。科学的知見に基づく情報発信は、報道機関が果たすべき使命でもあり、市民がネットやメディアに氾濫する情報を取捨選択し、読み解く力を培うために欠かせない。一方、国は専門家の科学的知見を政策決定に十分生かしているだろうか。疑問に感じる点も少なくない。今回の講演では、主に新型コロナや2020年７月の熊本豪雨、熊本地震などに関する科学・医療報道を題材に、情報発信の在り方や視点について取り上げたい。
