Abstract:
Meiosis is a unique cell division allowing the conversion of diploid to haploid cells. Our laboratory has been studying in mice several aspects of the program of homologous recombination which is induced during meiosis. We have recently developed several approaches to analyze the coordination between chromosome organization and meiotic recombination using genetic, cytological and genomics approaches. We have uncovered several features of the loop/axis organization of meiotic chromosomes and associated proteins (SYCP3, HORMAD1, IHO1, CTCF and MEI4) which allow us to define basic principles of meiotic chromosome organization. Our recent progress will be reported.
