Abstract:
For approximately 30 years, prior to joining Kumamoto University, I was responsible for drug packaging at a pharmaceutical company. For the last ten and half years of my time at this company, I was engaged in creating value-added products through marking and packaging at the company’s generic drug subsidiary. I will introduce the concept of these value-added products along with their background.
[Examples of the creation of value-added products by labeling and packaging]
Examples include: 1. large characters on both sides of tablets; 2. GS1 code on each pocket of PTP (press through package) sheets; 3. product identification symbols on each packaging material; 4. unique small design of PTP outer packages; 5. unique design of PTP sheets to prevent children from accidentally ingesting the medication.
I will also share my main research themes and information on Japan’s first pharmaceutical packaging course at Kumamoto University.
