Abstrct:
With the sudden Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, armed female soldiers fighting to protect their country have come into the spotlight. Although the presence of female soldiers in war is not a new phenomenon, the situation is not as simple as saying that the presence of female soldiers in combat proves the spread of gender equality even to war and the military.
In this seminar, I will discuss the gender myth that females are always innocent victims in wars and males are better qualified for the military because they have a natural tendency to be violent. We will look at various aspects of war history to understand how the ideas of masculinity and femininity have supported military forces and promoted wars.
