Abstract:
It is critical for young researchers to envision their future career path. However, I believe that many young researchers, including myself, are worried about their future given the current situation of academia in Japan: a declining birthrate, shrinking research budgets, streamlining of university institutions, etc. How can we survive in the modern age that is drastically different from that of 20 or 30 years ago? I would like to consider this issue with you. The keyword is the “Convergence of Knowledge.” Let’s talk about creating our future by utilizing the wisdom and experience of young researchers.
* Convergence of Knowledge is a concept established by the Cabinet Office of Japan, which is defined as “gathering diverse knowledge to deliver the vitality of knowledge for creating novel value (Cabinet Office, 2022).”
