Speaker:  KANDA Yasunori  (President and Representative Director, HINOKUNI Salamanders)

Title:    My Failure Story: I Underestimated the Power of Sports

              – Lessons learned from Shikujiri-Sensei -

      Sports as a public good

 

Mr. Yasunori Kanda will introduce his past failures in the field of sports in the style of a TV show “Shikujiri-Sensei,” in which a guest shares stories of failures in a lecture style, and how he used the lessons learned from such failures to start and manage HINOKUNI Salamanders, a baseball team of the Kyushu Independent Professional Baseball League.

Bibliography:

After graduating from university, Mr. Yasunori Kanda joined the Bridgestone Sports Co., Ltd. In his third year, he was transferred to the United States branch to work in the department of sports marketing due to his strong English language skills.

After returning to Japan, he worked for 6 years in the field of athlete management. During that time, he worked as a personal assistant to Mr. Keisuke Honda, as so-called “Keisuke’s right-hand person,” while serving as the president of a European football club owned by Honda.

Later, after serving as president of Rizing Zephyr Fukuoka (a professional basketball team of the B-League), he became the Inaugural President of the HINOKUNI Salamanders, the first professional baseball team based in Kumamoto, when the Kyushu Independent Professional Baseball League was launched. He then led the team to become the first Kyushu Independent League champions in the 2021 season.

This year, in the 2022 season, the HINOKUKNI Salamanders won their second consecutive Kyushu League championships and also won the Japan Independent League Grand Championship.

As one of the top leaders in the field of sports management in Japan, he is actively contributing to regional development through sports.
