Abstract:
Food safety is essential for our daily lives.
The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW) is developing and implementing various measures, based on the latest scientific knowledge, to ensure food safety. The Ministry is also sharing related information with a wide range of stakeholders, including consumers, producers, and businesses. In this seminar, I would like to introduce our initiatives to ensure food safety, in addition to the current status of exports of Japanese food products.
Did you know that “food sanitation inspector” is a state-designated qualification with a mission to ensure food safety for people living in Japan? Food sanitation inspectors play an active role in a variety of fields, including monitoring and inspecting imported food products, promoting exports of Japanese food products, and working for central government ministries.
I would like to share with you the voices of current food sanitation inspectors who are proactively working on the front lines, including what they enjoy about their jobs and why they chose to become food sanitation inspectors.
