■How to apply for the HIGO program from abroad

In order to apply for the HIGO program of the Master and doctoral courses of Kumamoto University Graduate School of Medical Sciences and Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences,

 

1. You have to select one of the following departments, which belong to either Graduate School of Medical Sciences or Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Kumamoto University, according to your research interests.

・Departments of Graduate School of Medical Sciences
・Departments of Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences
2. You have to send an e-mail to the professor or chairperson of the department to ask whether he/she can accept you as a graduate student of the HIGO program, when you pass the exam.
3. Ask the professor or chairperson of the department for the details of the application forms and schedule.

You have to submit your score of English tests which are listed below to certificate your ability to communicate in English.
The oral exam will be an internet interview or will be conducted on the campus of Kumamoto Univ.
The list of English tests is as follows (Need one of the following 1 to 5).

 

1. TOEFL-iBT(total score must be 50 or more)
2. TOEFL-CBT(total score mustbe 143 or more)
3. TOEFL-PBT(total score must be 463 or more)
4. TOEIC(totalscore must be 480 or more)
5. IELTS(Overall Band Score must be 4.5 or more)

■How to apply for the HIGO program by new students

The selection exam of the HIGO program for students, who enter either Graduate School of Medical Sciences or Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Kumamoto University in this April and wish to take the HIGO program (including students who proceed to the Ph.D. course from the Master course), has been scheduled on April 20, 2013. The exam consists of TOEFL-ITP, short essay, and interview. If you are interested in the HIGO program, please consult with your supervisor. The information session of the HIGO program and the selection exam will be held at 4 pm on April 4 at the Conference room of Institute of Molecular Embryology and Genetics.
