This lecture will provide an outline of global, regional and local potentials and advances in science and technology in disaster risk reduction (DRR). The year 2020 marked thirty years of international programs of DRR. Significant progress is made in terms of global agenda of science and technology, especially its incorporation in Sendai Framework.  At the regional level, science technology advisory group has been proactive to promote research and evidence-based advocacy.  While in the national and local level there have also been innovations in decision making.  The future of STI lies in the development and promotion of science-based entrepreneurship among the youth and young professionals.
