Abstract:
In this seminar, participants will be encouraged to gain insight into themselves and to consider what types of companies are good companies for them to actively work for in an international environment. The seminar begins with an explanation of the increasing need for doctoral degree holders in the pharmaceutical, agrichemical, and seed industries. This introduction is followed by an overview of the customs and behavior patterns specific to Japanese companies that deprive them of global competitiveness in terms of human resources; the ways of thinking and behavior patterns required for Asian people, including Japanese people, to be successful in international settings are then discussed. A tool for participants to understand themselves as the basis of these ways of thinking and behavior patterns is then introduced. Participants use the tool on a trial basis and participate in an interactive discussion on what constitutes “good companies.” Finally, the lecturer will mention the aptitudes evaluated by companies’ Human Resources staff in a screening process for hiring graduating students.
